Answer: certSIGN® is a UTI company and acts as a Certification Services Provider. certSIGN® provides complete solutions to guarantee the authenticity, integrity, non-repudiation and confidentiality of information and transactions within an information system. We will stand by our customers and assists them to identify the best solution in order to protect the information of their organization, wherever they are and whatever our users would want to do: in the Intranet of the company, during business travels, communicating with the colleagues, clients and partners, signing contracts electronically or making on-line transactions.
Q: UTI is known as a solution developer and a system integrator within the IT field. How did it decide to operate on the services market?
A: Initially, UTI focused on the products and technological solutions, developing and creating competencies and a renown in this field. On the way, as we realized that there are insufficiently explored and operated areas on the market. certSIGN® has been created to cover such an area: security solutions customised to match the business. It has been a natural evolution, as the expertise and the competencies have already existed. certSIGN® plays two important cards: an welded team, the oldest and most experimented in the field of Public Key Infrastructure, and a wide experience to build trustful solutions. The qualified certificates will be provided only to those requiring extended creation of electronic signatures and for those wanting exclusively to authenticate on the working stations or to encrypt information, solutions especially created will be offered.
Q: What innovation does certSIGN® bring compared to the other Certification Services Providers?
A: Entirely Romanian-made solutions, which give us the freedom to customize them depending on the customer’s needs. Team’s experience - we have a broad services portfolio (qualified certificates issuing, on-line validation of the certificates status, time stamp, recovery of encryption private keys) and products (solutions for the work stations protection, of the mobile devices - including SmartPhone and PDA, document management, Single Sign On, Certification Authority for organizations). For some of these, other producers or suppliers do not even exist on the Romanian market.
Another novelty related to the certSIGN infrastructure - it will be located entirely in Romania and the customers’ personal information shall be locally administered, not in processing centers abroad. An important investment in this infrastructure has been made and we are proud of being the first ones making such a step.
Q: Q: The main market of the Certification Services Suppliers is the governmental sector and the private companies. Will you go in this direction or do you want to bring innovations in this area too?
A: We will focus on the direction of the governmental sector by extending the services already offered. Companies are very interested as well, regardless of their size, and we consider that, preparing packages of products and dedicated services, we will succeed in getting their attention. In parallel, we will start to aim at the final users too. It is not enough that an organization implements a security system if the user does not clearly see the targeted purpose. The information offered to the user until now was little, sometime inexact or incomplete. We wish to “demystify” this area of the information security and to translate it for the public’s understanding, which we invite once more to meet us. Further, the public will be more and more aware and will begin to confidently use the on-line services and the digital certificates.
Another targeted topic is the on-line services generating that address the citizens. Actually, the digital certificates, even if existing, are of no use for them. It is, as if they had a TV device but no television station broadcasting programs. We want to start the “broadcasting” and to draw the public’s attention towards us.
