Collaboration between the private environment and NATO agencies – the stake of the NITEC18 conference

The NITEC 2018 conference, which focuses on "NATO's Digital Strategy: Extending the Ecosystem", is one of the most important events dedicated to cyber security, organized by the NATO Communications and Informatics Agency (NCIA) and the Electronics and Communications Association for the Armed Forces (AFCEA), in collaboration with the German Defense Ministry, in Berlin, May 22-24, 2018.

The event aims to bring to the forefront the need for collaboration between private companies, expert groups, academia and NATO agencies to boost the development of state-of-the-art technologies that respond to the need for efficient IT solutions for securing information from defense structures.

"The military field can not advance without collaboration with the industry and academia. The tendency to digitize military operations is clear", said Mr. Wolfgang Taubert, representative of the German Ministry of Defense, at the event.

NATO is currently undergoing a massive process of technological modernization, with 40% of the total budget allocated to NATO's Communications and Information Technology Agency (NCIA), which coordinates the digital transformation of the organization.

NITEC 2018, which brings together more than 600 government, military and business leaders, as well as defense and security experts, has an exhibition component. Romania is represented at this event by the certSIGN company, which exhibits an innovative concept of IT security for mobile military operations, consisting of a suite of proprietary encryption software, secure document management, electronic signature, secure mobile communications, virtualization solutions and cyber-security solutions to protect the entire IT & C infrastructure. The certSIGN solution integrates nationally and internationally accredited IT security products, included in the NATO Information Assurance Product Catalog.

"The private sector is one of the key players in cyberspace, technological innovations and expertise of private companies are essential to allow NATO countries and allied countries to develop effective cyber defense. From the desire to keep pace with the rapid pace of technological change, NATO consults and cooperates with industry, and we have products that meet the highest technological and security requirements in the military", says Adrian Floarea, CEO of certSIGN.

certSIGN is one of the most trusted third parties and developers of cyber security solutions in the region, being the initiator of the first private CERT in Romania, which provides institutions with the necessary support to rapidly prevent, identify and solve cyber-events.
