The first European regulation signed with the electronic signature

Premiere in Strasbourg! The European Parliament and the Presidency of the EU Council signed the European Regulation concerning measures to safeguard the security of gas supply, using the qualified electronic signature, as defined by eIDAS.

The signing ceremony is an important step in Europe’s digitalization: the first European law signed electronically.

By electronically signing the European Regulation concerning measures to safeguard the security of gas supply, the European Union confirms its involvement in promoting the digital revolution and in increasing EU citizens’ trust in electronic signatures issued according to EU Regulation no. 910/2014  (eIDAS).

With eIDAS, the European Union has created the legal framework required for organizations and citizens of EU member states to safely access services and make on-line and trans-border transactions.

Thanks to eIDAS, things like opening a bank account, submitting tax returns, registering in a foreign university, establishing a company in another EU country or participating to public auctions can easily and safely be done online.

In Romania, certSIGN is the main promoter of the digital revolution and provides trust services in compliance with the requirements of eIDAS Regulation: qualified certificates for electronic signatures, qualified certificates for electronic seals and qualified time stamping services.
