Romania prepares the winning team to represent us at the European Cyber ​​Security Championship 2018

 

From today to the end of September, young people wishing to represent Romania at the European Cyber ​​Security Championship 2018 will attend Bran training sessions held by specialists in the field. The nine-day bootcamp marks the end of the national round, with the selection team trying to win for the third consecutive year a place on the podium in this grand contest held in the UK in London from 15-18 October 2018 .

Romania has managed to achieve outstanding results over the past three years of participating in the European Cyber ​​Security Championship. Thus, in 2016 and 2017, our country's representative was vice-champion, occupying the second place at the editions of Duesseldorf (Germany) and Malaga (Spain), among the over 10 participating countries, including Austria, Germany, Spain, UK , Greece, Ireland. At the same time, for two years in a row (2015 and 2016), the Romanian team was nominated by the jury as having the best exposure of how it handled the tasks in the competition.

The competition is an initiative of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and is carried out in accordance with the EU Cyber ​​Security Strategy Implementation Action Plan.

The growing need for IT security professionals is recognized worldwide. To help alleviate this skills shortage, many countries have launched national cyber security competitions for students, university graduates or even non-ICT professionals with the clear goal of finding new and young cyber talents and encouraging young people to follow a career in cyber security. The European Cyber ​​Security Championship (ECSC) derives from this context, with sustained evidence covering areas such as web security, cryptography, reverse engineering and investigations, programming, Linux / windows / macOS security, mobile security.

Competitors selected in Romania team will benefit from specialized training courses, mentors with specialists and employment opportunities in the field. Specializing in the development of cyber security solutions, certSIGN supports Romania's batch to participate in the ECSC18, by involving itself in the pre-selection stages and by supporting training sessions in cryptography.
