The start of entries for the first phase of the selection of the national team for the European Cyber Security Contest – ECSC18, which can be attended by students and students aged between 16 and 25, who are passionate about cyber security.
Organized at the initiative of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), the ECSC competition is held annually and aims to identify and attract young people from high schools and faculties to cyber security and thus contribute to the training of the next generation of experts in this field field.
To enter the contest, young people interested in cyber security must complete the registration form available at https://www.cybersecuritychallenge.ro and then go through the selection steps.
Students and students selected in the group that will represent Romania at ECSC18 will undergo a training course with industry experts to help them develop their technical expertise and team spirit.
National team selection
In order to train the team that will represent Romania at ECSC18, Cyberint will organize the online selection stage, together with CERT-RO and the National Association for Security of Information Systems, with the support of certSIGN, CISCO, Clico, Enevo Group, Marsh Romania, Orange Romania and PaloAlto Networks.
In the second stage, the selected young people will be tested their knowledge in the fields of web application security, cyber defense, cryptography, network traffic analysis, reverse engineering and public presentation skills, the best of which will be included in the group that will represent Romania at the final stage of the contest, to be held in London from 15 to 18 October 2018.
In the last two editions of the ECSC, the Romanian team managed to score the second place, being overtaken by Spain. At ECSC18, Romania's competitors will be Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Liechenstein, Great Britain, Norway and Spain.
The participating countries will be represented by a team of 10 competitors divided into two age groups: 16-20 years and 21-25 years.
certSIGN, a company specialized in the development of cyber security solutions, has the honor to be one of the main supporters of Romania's lot for participation in the ECSC18, covering part of the costs of preparing, traveling and participating in the competition.
In recent years, certSIGN has been permanently involved in the training of young IT professionals, through partnerships with academia, or by co-organizing similar cyber security competitions, such as the Crypt of Bite Competition, organized by ENISA and dedicated to high school students and students interested in mathematics and cryptography from EU countries.
